As winter yields to spring, nature moves from stillness into expression. Sap rises, buds open, winds shift — and pollen begins to circulate through the air. In Ayurveda, this seasonal transition marks the liquefaction of accumulated Kapha. The heaviness and stability of winter begin to soften and mobilize. For many, this internal “melting” shows up as congestion, sneezing, sinus pressure, brain fog, tiredness or itchy eyes — what we commonly label as seasonal allergies. Tree pollen is responsible for hay fever in around a quarter of sufferers in the UK—affecting an estimated 13 million people.

From an Ayurvedic lens, these symptoms are not random. During winter, heavier foods, less movement, and cold weather encourage Kapha accumulation in the body. As spring warmth arrives, that stored Kapha loosens and enters circulation. When combined with environmental pollen, the immune system may overreact, producing excess mucus and inflammation.

We have put some careful thought into our early spring allergy protocol. It works on three interconnected levels: cleansing excess Kapha, protecting the nasal passages, and strengthening immune resilience.

Neem cleanse tablets support this seasonal transition.  Our balanced neem cleanse formula helps with its anti inflammatory and antiallergic properties. Neem is traditionally described as tikta(bitter) and cooling, helping to clear excess heat and purify the blood. Neem Cleanse supports digestion and elimination, both of which need to be optimal when it comes to allergies.

Here it assists in reducing inflammatory load and supporting the liver and lymph — key pathways involved in spring congestion patterns. If we can keep the lymph moving and clear of stagnation and the body less on the defensive we have much more potential to deal with allergies.

Nasya, the gentle application of warm oil into the nostrils, offers direct care to the respiratory gateway. In Ayurveda, the nose is the doorway to prana. Properly applied, nasya lubricates dry tissues, supports sinus clarity, and creates a protective layer against airborne irritants.

Our gentle dailynasya provides soft warmth and is perfect for clearing excess kapha/mucous. It helps clear any feelings of foggy head and spring heaviness. Brahmi contained within can help calm allergic response.

Finally, Colostrum complements this approach from a modern perspective. By supporting the gut lining and immune modulation, it helps recalibrate hypersensitive responses that often underlie allergic reactions.

In Ayurveda, early cows milk has been prized for its strengthening and rejuvenating properties. Our colostrum reflects this same principle, it is sourced from cows who keep their calves with them and are grass-fed, with the highest welfare. This marvel of nature strengthens immune resilience at the gut interface. It supports gut lining repair and modulates immune signalling. Colostrum may help calm overactive responses to allergens and improve tolerance over time. In Ayurveda it is classified as being Rasayanaand Ojas building, both principles are important when we are working with allergies.

Together, these practices harmonize ancient wisdom and contemporary understanding — clearing what winter has left behind while building steadiness and resilience for the vibrant months ahead.
