Ayurveda for Whole-Person Health and Longevity

I’m Andy Shakeshaft and I’m an Ayurvedic practitioner and co-founder of Essential Ayurveda.

I am dedicated to supporting people in rediscovering balance, vitality and clarity through Ayurveda — the traditional “science of life.”

Ayurveda recognises that health is not simply the absence of symptoms, but a dynamic balance between body, mind and environment. When this balance is disturbed — through stress, lifestyle, emotional strain or physical illness — we can begin to feel depleted, unsettled or unwell.

My approach is practical and personalised, grounded in both classical Ayurvedic wisdom and a contemporary understanding of health. Together, we explore what may be contributing to imbalance and create a clear plan to help you feel healthier, stronger and more at ease in yourself.

I work with individuals across all stages of life — from those navigating ongoing health concerns to those wishing to support their long-term wellbeing and healthy ageing.

Ayurvedic Consultations

Personalised Support for Whole-Person Health

An Ayurvedic consultation offers a comprehensive exploration of your health across physical, emotional and lifestyle dimensions.

We look at:

  • Digestive strength and metabolism

  • Energy levels and sleep

  • Emotional wellbeing

  • Hormonal and immune balance

  • Daily routines and environmental influences

By understanding your constitution and the deeper patterns influencing your body’s ability to regulate and adapt, we create a personalised programme that restores balance and supports sustainable resilience.

Whether you are living with longstanding health concerns, feeling overwhelmed by life, or simply seeking to feel healthier and more balanced, your programme may include:

• Personalised nutritional guidance
• Herbal support
• Lifestyle recommendations
• Ayurvedic treatments and therapeutic practices

These elements work together to restore balance and guide you towards sustainable health and vitality.

Areas We Commonly Support

  • Digestive and metabolic concerns
  • Stress and emotional imbalance
  • Fatigue and low vitality
  • Hormonal transitions
  • Inflammatory and chronic conditions
  • Health optimisation, healthy ageing and longevity

Consultations are available in Norfolk, London and online.

Amnanda Process

The Amnanda Process, rooted in a Tibetan tradition of Ayurveda, is a year-long programme of twelve revitalising oil treatments.

This structured therapeutic process supports the gradual release of accumulated trauma, stress and tension, helping the nervous system settle and restore itself. Through specialised herbal oils, therapeutic touch and reflective dialogue, deeper regenerative processes are encouraged.

Amnanda is particularly supportive for those experiencing chronic stress, fatigue or seeking a sustained approach to health, vitality and healthy ageing.

While Amnanda focuses on restorative treatment, Lifebalance extends this work into everyday living and long-term behavioural change.

Lifebalance

The Ayurvedic Art of Living Well

Lifebalance is a twelve-month therapeutic journey combining consultation, intention-setting and nourishing herbal oil treatments.

Each session begins with reflective conversation — exploring stress patterns, habits and life circumstances — and clarifying what feels most important to shift.

The treatment supports:

• Regulation of the nervous system
• Release of stored tension
• Improved circulation and metabolic balance
• Integration of new habits and intentions
• Deep rest and renewal

Over time, Lifebalance helps bring unconscious stress patterns into awareness, creating space for healthier choices and sustainable change.

It is especially suited to those who wish to strengthen emotional resilience, cultivate greater calm and invest in long-term vitality and longevity.

Additional Therapeutic Approaches

Alongside consultations and structured programmes, additional therapeutic approaches may be incorporated where appropriate to support your overall treatment plan.

These modalities complement Ayurvedic care and are selected according to your individual needs.

Structural Alignment — Dorn Method

The Dorn Method is a gentle manual therapy that supports spinal and joint alignment through precise, guided correction and therapeutic massage.

Because chronic muscular tension is often linked to sustained stress patterns, restoring structural balance can ease physical discomfort while also supporting nervous system regulation and overall resilience.

Where appropriate, simple corrective exercises are taught to help maintain alignment and protect long-term musculoskeletal health.

Pranic Healing

Pranic Healing is a subtle energy-based therapy that works with the body’s energetic field to restore balance and vitality.

Persistent stress and emotional strain can affect the body’s regulatory systems before symptoms fully manifest. By clearing energetic congestion and strengthening the flow of prana (life force), this treatment supports relaxation, clarity and improved recovery.

Many clients experience a sense of grounding, lightness and renewed steadiness following treatment.

Professional Background

I hold a Master’s degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and have over two decades of clinical experience in private practice and residential retreat settings.

Postgraduate training in complex trauma, relational mindfulness and integrative systems-based physiology shapes the way I work — recognising the close relationship between physical and emotional wellbeing, and your individual constitutional balance.

Begin Your Path Back to Balance

Whether you are seeking personalised consultation, restorative treatment, or a longer-term therapeutic journey, Ayurveda offers a structured and supportive way to strengthen your health.

If you feel ready to explore what this approach could offer you, I invite you to schedule an initial consultation. Together, we will take time to understand your current health landscape and define a clear, personalised direction forward.
