What is Maca?
Maca is a plant that originates in the Andes Mountains in Peru. Because it contains so many nutrients, the Peruvian Incas have used it for more than 2000 years. To this day in many villages, only married couples are allowed to ingest the root, as it is believed to have strong aphrodisiac effects. However, there is more to this wonderful plant than simply its aphrodisiac properties.
Being cultivated on the plateaus of the Andes Mountains, in altitudes of up to 4400 metres, the plant is exposed to extreme climatic conditions such as temperature fluctuations, strong winds, and intensive solar energy. To thrive in these conditions, the plant has to be very hardy and contain a large amount of nutrients.
For centuries it’s multi-acting health prperties have been part of the treasure of knowledge of the Incas who appreciated its revitalising and aphrodisiac effect.
Why is Maca so interesting for us?
Researching Maca, you will probably find lots of information about its aphrodisiac effects. Clinical studies conducted in Latin America and the U.S. show that Maca increases the libido, the ability to have orgasms, and the production of sperm. In April 2000 the magazine “Urology” published a systematic study about the aphrodisiac effects of Maca that was carried out by a Chinese researcher, that showed the effects of Maca on the sexual activity of mice. The results were surprising: The mice that were fed with Maca were three times as active as the normally fed mice.
Moreover, for mice that suffered from erectile dysfunctions the symptoms seemed to improve clearly. The results of several studies with humans are also astonishing. The Peruvian researcher Gustavo Gonzales, for instance, administered Maca to twelve men between 20 and 40 years of age for three months, and tested their fertility. Already after two weeks he noticed that their sperm count had doubled. Also, their testosterone-level had increased and they also confirmed that their libido had noticeable increased.
But Maca provides many other benefits to our health and our wellbeing. In addition to studies about the influence of Maca on our libido and sperm count, it has also beeen shown to provide general strengthening to our body, improvement of intellectual and physical abilities, as well as the ability to cope with stress. So the Peruvian Incas were and are quite right to use Maca as a nourishing energy source that strengthens our immune system and gives us mental as well as physical power and stamina.
Together with this revitalising effect, Maca positively influences our nerves and our hormonal balance and can provide help against fatigue, exhaustion, stress, and even depression. You will soon feel calmer and more mentally and physically resilient. This makes Maca perfect for athletes, and also for those who want to boost their vitality, strength and stamina.
Last but not least, in Peruvian herbal medicine lore, Maca is well known for its medicinal effects. According to the ancient tribal knowledge of the Incas, Maca can have a positive effect on anaemia, menstrual disorders and as a boost during menopause.
Maca Plus is a precious all-rounder that has many benefits and not only as an aphrodisiac.
Maca Plus is full of nutrients – but what makes it so unique?
Maca contains more than 60 different useful nutrients. The dried tuber contains 13 to 16 % proteins and a high ratio of essential amino and omega-3 fatty acids that support all our metabolic processes. Maca is also rich in antioxidants that help reduce the oxidative stress in our body. Oxidative stress is one of the main factors that speed up the degeneration of our cells and is associated with the development of a number of diseases.
Additionally, Maca is rich in calcium and zinc, iodine, iron, copper, manganese, vitamins B2, B5, C, and niacin. Also, Maca root contains vegetable sterols that resemble the hormone testosterone. They encourage the blood flow in our pelvic region and stimulate the healthy production of testosterone and oestrogens. They also reduce the cholesterol level.
Our Maca Plus capsules are special because of the synergy of these precious nutrients of Maca root together with organic Ashwagandha and Tribulus terrestris. Ashwaganda, well-known in Ayurvedic medicine, has similar properties to Maca. Ashwagandha is also revitalising, stress reducing, and aphrodisiac. It is further believed to help chronic fatigue or conditions of exhaustion, as it improves our slow-wave sleep phase. Likewise, Tribulus terrestris, which has been used in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, is strengthening, stimulating and enhances our potency. One of the reasons for this is the high ratio of tannin in the fruits. In this unique combination, Maca can develop its full revitalising potential. Maca Plus is specifically manufactured at a maximum temperature of 40 °C in order to preserve it’s nutrients and then filled in capsules, making it long-lasting and easy to take.
Our easy to swallow Maca Plus capsules, taken daily are the perfect boost for health and energy.
